My journey started, honestly, with curiosity and boredom. I wasn’t trying to reinvent my career. I wasn’t looking for a new path. I was simply fascinated by how websites worked. I’d stay up late messing around with basic HTML, changing little bits of code just to see what would break or transform. I didn’t know what I was doing half the time — but something about it clicked.
Eventually I stumbled across WordPress. At first it looked simple… maybe too simple. But once I dove in, I realised just how powerful it actually was. I began building tiny test sites, playing with themes, editing CSS, breaking my installs again and again (in the best way), and trying out plugins like a kid in a candy shop.
Before long, friends started asking if I could “fix their website” or “make something small.” One thing led to another, and suddenly I had clients. That’s when I realised I wasn’t just playing around anymore — I was becoming a WordPress developer without even realising it.
As more businesses in Melbourne went digital, the demand kept growing. New cafés wanted menus online. Trades needed booking forms. Retailers needed full online stores.
